His tv show was terrible. In fact anyone who slagged off Joan Rivers (rip) on that thread must REALLY hate Boyle as he tries to do something similar but is about as tenth as amusing.
That said, I loved him on motw, but that show is completely set up for every comedian on it to do snippets if their ore rehearsed routines - there's an interview with Ross noble somewhere where he talks about how much panel shows irritate him, and that he only goes on QI as it's more off the cuff but would never do motw

A group of us went and saw him at the Cliffs Pavillion (westcliff) a few years back ... never ever have I heard a comedian leave the stage to silence... I imagine the same thing would happen to Mr Polite if he ever walked the boards...

He's a funny bloke and very clever. His autobiography is a very good read.
Again, like with a lot of things out there, people hear the swearing and automatically think that's all there is.
See also; South Park, Beavis and Butthead, and even to an extent Bernard Manning.

He's a funny fucker. Not all of the time but when he goes too close to the mark that's when he's at his best its a shame he isn't on TV more often if you ask me.

Agreed. I don't find him funny. Whatever happened to comedians that don't base their material on childish remarks about other people.
I guess for Frankie Boyle his choice of comedy was quite easy to make as it doesn't need a lot of brain power to make jokes about other people. I reckon he was bullied at school too for being such an unfunny cretin.
